The reconstruction of the Municipal Theater of Lycabettus aimed to enhance the aesthetic value of the hill and upgrade it as an important public recreational space. The design preserved the original form of the protected monument, as envisioned by Takis Zenetos in 1965, with full respect for the initial concept. The old plastic seats were replaced with 3,950 wooden benches, while the total seating capacity now reaches 6,000 spectators. The project involved complex and delicate interventions on the metal structure, integrating the theater’s iconic form with modern infrastructure, restoring it as a vibrant cultural landmark of Athens.
